Our health care system is one of our most cherished institutions but it is slowly breaking under the pressure of increasing costs. Health care is an in absorbing an increasing proportion of provincial budgets and the trend cannot continue. As the cost of delivering high quality health care continues to rise with the introduction of new technologies and treatments it will become more difficult to adhere to the tenet of universal access enshrined in our system.
It is time for us as Canadians to think outside the box, change our perspective or find a new paradigm. If we cannot keep up with the increasing costs to meet the demands of Canadians needing health care perhaps we can decrease the demand on the system by improving our health.
This web site will be devoted to expressing opinions of various experts on ways we can reduce the demands on our health care system. Right now the site is just barebones but as the weeks and months go by I hope that the content will expand and contain links to other web sites where you can obtain more information.
